The Senate on Wednesday denied coordinating the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to explore the Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
The Senate was said to have purportedly guided the EFCC through a letter to test Akpabio over money related mistakes at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Additionally on Wednesday, the Clerk to the Senate, Mr. Nelson Ayewoh, in an announcement in Abuja, separated the upper chamber from the purportedly “manufactured letter.”
He exhorted general society to dismiss the said letter.
The announcement peruses: “My consideration has been attracted to a produced letter dated seventh May, 2020, implied to radiate from my office, routed to the Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
“The letter deceitfully shows that His Excellency, the Deputy President of the Senate had guided the Clerk of the Senate to appeal to the Hon. Pastor of Niger Delta Affairs and one Mr. Scott Ikott Tommey on charges verging on supposed defilement at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
“The Office of the Deputy President of the Senate, has just reacted to the bogus distribution and deceitful request.
“I totally concur with the accommodation of the Deputy President of the Senate that the distribution is ‘bogus, phony, malignant, wicked and vexatious.’
“What’s more, the overall population and all concerned are thus welcome to note as follows:-
“That at no time did the Deputy Senate President, His Excellency, Senator Augustine Ovie Omo-Agege, demand me to advance any request of to any Agency of government;
“That at no time did the Office of the Clerk, Senate issue or caused to be given, a request looking for the checking and examination of the Hon. Clergyman of Niger Delta Affairs, His Excellency, Senator Godswill Akpabio or any individual so far as that is concerned;
“That the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has channels for tending to open petitions.
“Right now case, no request on the topic is before the Senate and consequently, no Resolution could have been taken in such manner;
“That the letterhead utilized by the insidiousness maker(s) is not the same as the one being used in my Office as the reference number NASS/CS/99/R/21/19 on the manufactured letter isn’t a part of our documenting record; and the style, language structure and word textual styles utilized by the underhandedness maker(s) in their correspondence shifts from our in-house standard.
“As needs be, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) just as the overall population are therefore encouraged to dismiss this ruined request.
“Likewise, Security Agencies are ordered to research the wellspring of this phony.”
